In a crucial match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Tuesday night, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 24 runs to secure the fourth position in the points table and pushed the rival team to the fifth position.
But what is being discussed on social media more than winning the match is the match between Gladiators bowler Sohail Tanveer and Ben Cutting.
But this competition did not start in PSL. The story began in the 2018 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) where Sohail Tanveer was representing Guyana Amazon Warriors and Ben Cutting was playing in his rival team.
In the 17th over of the match, Ben Cutting hit a powerful six to Sohail Tanveer but on the next ball he was bowled by one of his yorkers after which Sohail Tanveer showed him his fingers and made nasty gestures.
Sohail Tanveer was fined 15% of the match fee by the match referee for doing so.
But this animosity in the world of cricket did not end there. On Tuesday night, the two players came face to face again in the PSL match.
It was the 19th over of the match and Ben Cutting was in front of Sohail Tanveer. Ben Cutting hit four sixes to Sohail Tanveer and made 27 runs in one over and gave Sohail Tanveer the same nasty gestures with his fingers as Sohail Tanveer did four years ago.
After that the heat between the two players increased and the umpire had to intervene to control the situation.
But in the next over, when Ben Cutting tried to hit a six on Naseem Shah's ball, the ball rose in the air and went straight into the hands of Sohail Tanveer. After taking the catch, Sohail Tanveer returned to the pavilion and gestured to Ben Cutting again.
Social media users seem to be enjoying the clash on the ground.
A user named Meri Rajput fabricated a fake story through meme about how Ben Cutting used to talk to his wife Erin Holland about taking revenge on Sohail Tanveer.
"There is only one purpose in life: revenge."
Some users say that this may be the last PSL match of Sohail Tanveer's career.
Talking about Nazeeba gestures, a user named Hamza remembered the Bollywood movie 'Welcome' in which Nana Patikkar was saying to Anil Kapoor in the presence of Akshay Kumar, 'How was he gesturing? What does that mean? '
A user named Hamid tried to say through meme that Sohail Tanveer won this contest because after scoring 27 runs in one over, he again caught Ben Cutting and paid the bill.
Both players were fined
Match referee Ali Naqvi has fined Ben Cutting and Sohail Tanveer 15% of match fee for violating Level One of PSL Code of Conduct.
According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), both the players have been found violating Article 2.6 of the PSL Code of Conduct for making inappropriate gestures during the match.
Match referee Ali Naqvi said that such inappropriate gestures have no place in the game and all players need to understand their on and off field responsibilities.
The match referee further said that all these players are role models for the new generation and their attitude sends wrong message to the younger generation. He said that the best matches are being played during HBL PSL 7 but the players need to take full care of the spirit of cricket.
Ben Cutting and Sohail Tanveer have admitted their mistake and accepted the fine imposed by match referee Ali Naqvi.
