Emerging Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan has been bought for more than 150 million Indian rupees (357 million Pakistani rupees) in an auction for the new edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
According to the French news agency AFP, on the first day of the auction in Bangalore on Saturday, five-time winners Mumbai Indians bought back the 23-year-old wicket-keeper-batsman in a fierce bidding war.
Hugh Adams, the auctioneer, retired shortly after the fall.
The 10 teams, including the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans, will spend about کروڑ 75 million (over Rs 13.15 billion) in two days.
Ishan Kishan's fee is less than the 22 2.2 million paid to Yuvraj Singh in the 2015 auction.
The most expensive player in ILP history is South Africa's Chris Morris, who was bought last year for 22 2.23 million.
Bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar is second only to Ishan Kishan who has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for more than INR 139.3 million (over Rs 324.3 million).
Kolkata Knight Riders bought Shriyas Air, whose 80 runs helped India whitewash the West Indies in the ODI series on Friday, for more than 122 million Indian rupees (over 284 million Pakistani rupees).
Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has also rejoined the Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata has spent about 75.3 million Indian rupees (over 175.3 million Pakistani rupees) for them.
It should be noted that IPL is one of the most expensive cricket tournaments in the world.
